This independent funding allocation has been ring fenced by the DfE to support small group tuition for 16 to 19 students in English, maths, and other courses where learning has been disrupted. The subjects covered in the tuition will not be limited to English and Maths but will be identified according to need and existing programmes.
Our priority will be firstly to support students who have not achieved a grade 4 in English and/or maths.
But support will also be available for students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), particularly where they have experienced additional disruption to learning as a result of their specific needs and disabilities.
Interventions
- Support and tuition in study skills that will help students progress towards Year target grades and future aspirations (including higher education, apprenticeships or employment Post 18 ( CLV staff)
- Bespoke Maths tuition ( External Tutors)
- Bespoke / targeted tuition to address gaps in skill development / knowledge acquisition in other subjects ( CLV staff and tutors)
- Small group tuition will not exceed five students, other than in one off or exceptional circumstances (for example absence of a member of staff requiring the merger of two existing groups on a temporary basis).
Monitoring
- Record the use of the funding, including reference to the individual students that receive the support, the needs of those students, the number of hours of tuition delivered, and retain the necessary evidence of the tuition provided.
- Deliver the extra tuition and spend the allocated funds in the academic year 2020/21.
- Notify ESFA of any unspent funding from this fund for it to be reclaimed.
