Some of our students recently had the amazing opportunity to visit Google Offices in London. The winners of our ‘Make a Difference’ project from year 8 last year got to present their idea to a team at Google. Our digital leaders also had the chance to present the work that they do on a weekly basis. Both groups of students did exceptionally well. The presentations were well planned, well rehearsed and delivered with confidence. A statement from one person at Google was that the students had ‘made her day, no actually her year!’ with their great presentations!
Google were fantastic hosts treating the students to a detailed tour of the amazing Google offices and answering their many questions about what it is like to work at Google. We were also allowed to take advantage of Google’s all you can eat buffet – the food was fantastic! The Google Offices are a really creative environment and we all left wanting to work there (teachers included!). You can get a flavour of what it is like to work at Google from the pictures below and in our video.
Following the tour we took advantage of the fact we were in London and visited many London attractions. We did the Jack the Ripper tour and learnt much about the history of London as well as the gruesome details of this case which was never solved. We did a lot of walking taking in Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, 10 Downing Street, Nelson’s Column and Hyde Park amongst other places. We visited Madame Tussauds, the Science Museum and Harrods. Not bad going for a short trip!!
You can see what our trip was like in the video below along with our students presentations.
Student Presentations
Winning Make a Difference Presentation
Ayesha and Kimberlie (now year 9) produced a very brave piece of work looking at how technology can be used to help tackle the extremely sensitive issue of Female Genital Mutilation. Their idea was well thought out and extremely well presented with a hard hitting video really getting the importance of their message across.

Digital Leaders Presentation
Our digital leaders work hard on an ongoing basis to support the use of technology across the school (and in the community). They consult on school IT decisions and offer their own ideas. They also do lots of work to raise awareness about esafety. Our Digital leaders are all in year 9 and a big thanks to all of them for representing the school so well: Elena, Ellie, James, Layla, Maisie and Dylan.
